Joseph L. Evans, Ph.D., is Founder and President of P & N Development Ventures LLC (Redwood City, CA USA), a consulting firm providing a wide array of consulting services to clients in the private equity investment, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and nutritional supplement industries. Dr. Evans is a senior pharmaceutical scientist with extensive expertise in the metabolic and cardiovascular diseases (especially obesity and type 2 diabetes), inflammation, and oncology. He has expertise in implementing and managing biochemical, cellular, and physiological models, along with possessing extensive experience in drug and product development, including IND preparation, technical/medical writing, project management, technology evaluation (for venture capital, biotechnology, and nutraceutical firms), and clinical trial design and oversight.

Dr. Evans has extensive expertise in the areas of natural product pharmacology including antioxidants and nitric oxide biology, especially the regulation of nitric oxide production by natural compounds, including arginine and polyphenolic compounds. Dr. Evans has played a major role in the development, introduction, and commercialization of a first-in-class controlled release α-lipoic acid for individuals with type 2 diabetes, and a first-in-class nitric oxide generator product for the sports nutrition industry. His former company, Medical Research Institute (MRI), was recently acquired by Natrol (NASDAQ: NTOL) in June, 2007.
